Randall Morgan
As a fourth generation native to Santa Cruz County, Randall Morgan (or R. Morgan as he liked to be called) devoted his life to developing a deep knowledge of the natural world in Santa Cruz County. Mostly self-taught, Morgan built up his expertise through decades of direct observation and exhaustive collecting. As a result, Morgan discovered over a dozen new insect and plant species, some of which are only found in the Santa Cruz area. He helped preserve the work of past naturalists, kept years of writings about California natural history, and tirelessly advocated for local species and habitat conservation.
